The Maison and its riverside vineyards
For all those who love original vineyard tours, Maison Philipponnat offers wine tours that include two parts: an on-land visit to discover the uniqueness of the vineyards and the Maison, followed by a leisurely cruise on the Marne canal aboard the Bullet 1927.
“Water’s Edge” tour
An exploration of the secrets of how Philipponnat Champagnes are made. The tour begins at the heart of our historic estate, in the winery and cellar, before exploring the Maison’s caves, which were formerly the underground galleries of the Château de Mareuil-sur-Ay. The on-land portion of the tour culminates in a guided tasting of three cuvées that embody the Maison’s unique style. The next step takes place on the water: we invite you to board the Bullet 1927 for a cruise on the Marne canal, providing you with complete tranquility as you admire our vineyards: the very ones that shape the Champenois countryside so decisively. A truly timeless moment to enjoy a tasting alongside a chic picnic, carefully prepared by the Chef of the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa ***** and paired with one of our cuvées.
“Clos des Goisses: A Terroir and a Wine” tour
This walking tour begins at the heart of one of the most emblematic sites in the Champagne region. To reach the historic Clos des Goisses vineyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you must take the steep path that leads to the magnificent viewpoint near the statue of Notre Dame du Gruguet, overlooking the Marne canal. We will then open the doors of our winery and cellar to share with you the secrets of how our Champagnes are crafted. Your experience will then progress to Maison Philipponnat’s historic labyrinth of caves dating back to the 18th Century, where our wines lay patiently at rest, revealing the magic of time and ageing. To conclude the experience on dry land, you will enjoy a guided tasting of two Pinot Noir-based cuvées that embody the House’s unique style. You will then board the Bullet 1927 for a cruise on the Marne canal, to discover the famed viewpoint of the Clos des Goisses vineyard and its iconic reflection on the water, while enjoying one of the Maison’s wines paired with a chic picnic lunch prepared by the Chef of the Royal Champagne Hôtel & Spa *****.
